How to Stop Eye Twitching
Why do my eyes twitch? We’ve all had this happen at one point or another. Maybe you stayed up late studying or perhaps you stared at your computer for hours on
end. Either way, eye twitching can be extremely annoying and hard to
get rid of. Most of us don’t require medical attention for involuntary
eye twitching.
- Start with hard blinking. Close your
eyes as tight as possible. Squeeze them as much as you can and then
suddenly open up unexpectedly wide. Execute this type of blinking until
the tears burst out of your eyes.
- Massage lightly your bottom eyelids in a circular motion using your middle fingers.
- Blink for a half a minute. Try to do that with adequate speed, and at the same time, make the movements very light. Imagine that your eyelashes are butterfly's wings. The process of blinking is extremely important to your eyes – it relaxes most of the eye muscles, lubricates and cleanses the eyeballs.
- Close your eyes halfway down. You will notice that your upper eyelids constantly tremble with different amplitude. Concentrate your efforts on stopping this trembling.
- Blink for a minute with your eyes closed.
- Spend 2 minutes to give yourself an Acupressure Massage.
- If you can do any Eye Hydrotherapy Procedures.
- Read the original article on wikihow.comEye twitching can occur under the eye or in the upper eyelid and it can affect the right or left eye. Eye twitching causes include Benign Essential Blepharospasm (which isn’t harmful), dry eyes, Tourette’s syndrome and strained eyes. Eye twitching should not be confused with drooping eyes which requires serious medical attention as soon as possible.
When to Contact Your Optometrist

How to Make Your Eyes Stop Hurting After Swimming
When you come back from the pool, you may notice that your eyes
are red and burn. This is probably because of the chlorine in the pool
that you went to. To learn how to treat this annoying problem, there is a solution.
- Tell which eye hurts the worst.
Decide which one stings the most and burns the most. This is because
only one eye can be treated at a time with this method. If both of your
eyes hurt equally, then it doesn't matter which eye you choose to treat
first. Try not to do both eyes at once, which might worsen the problem.
- Go to a sink. It doesn't matter if the sink belongs to the pool staff or if it's at your house. Push the handle that releases hot water. Slowly bend down into the sink, with your eyes facing the ceiling.
- Put your eye directly under the water. Don't let the water be too cold or hot. Try to open it if the water isn't running at too fast of a speed. Let the water wash out the chlorine that was in your eye by keeping your eye there for a few minutes. 'Do not put soap on your eye, as this will cause the irritation to grow worse.
- Change which eye is under the sink. If your left eye was there first, put your right eye under now. Or, if your right eye was under the water first, put your left eye under second. Leave this eye under the sink for a few minutes as well, and follow the same procedure at you did for your first eye.
- Dry off your eyes with a towel. Make sure you do not dry them off with the beach towel you were using, as this is wet with chlorine from the pool. If your beach towel that you brought along has not been used yet, then it is alright to dry your eyes off on that towel.
- If you have eye drops use them, but don't over use them.
- Don't go into the pool anymore for the day after you follow this procedure. If you do, then you will have to keep doing this over and over again, which could just make your eyes hurt more.
- If you are a parent with a child that is too short to bend into the sink, try wetting a paper towel or washcloth with warm water from the sink. Have your child place this over their eye for a few minutes. Then, switch the eye it is over.
- Try wearing goggles next time to avoid this problem.
- Try starting to wear goggles before you go into the water.
- Never open your eyes if the water has a lot of chlorine.
- Feel your eyes. Make sure they are not hot. If they are, flush them out with water for 5 minutes.
- If you are facing any eye problem contact your optometrist.
Are
you due to visit the optometrist? Even if you don’t wear glasses and
your eyes are feeling fine, we’re here to share several reasons why you
should get your eyes tested on a regular basis.
Your
vision is priceless and a thirty minute appointment once a year is
certainly something you should be able to commit too. Getting your eyes
tested regularly will help you stay on top of your general health, eye
diseases and even headaches!

This article will provide some tips as to how you can improve your "vision". This can come in handy in many situations, from the practical (driving at night on a poorly lit road) to the fantastical (like being a ninja).
- Consume more Vitamin A. Because vitamin A helps protect the surface of the eye (cornea), it is essential for good vision. One of the first signs of Vitamin A deficiency is night blindness. In Ancient Egypt, it was discovered that night blindness could be cured by eating liver, which was later found to be a rich source of Vitamin A. A lack of Vitamin A also causes the cornea to become very dry, leading to the clouding of the front of the eye, corneal ulcers and vision loss. Vitamin A deficiency also causes damage to the retina, which also contributes to blindness
- Practice using your peripheral vision. The human eye has 'rod' cells and 'cone' cells on the retina, which is the sensory layer at the back of the eye. Rod cells and cone cells are distributed evenly throughout the retina except for the fovea, which is a small area on the back of the eye opposite the pupil. At the fovea, there are only cone cells. This is an important thing to know because the cone cells are more proficient at color detection, whereas rod cells are better for low light and detecting movement. Therefore, when trying to see in low light, try not to look directly at the places you are trying to see. By using your peripheral vision you are using more rod cells, which work much better in low light. This takes a great deal of practice for most people.
- Wear dark sunglasses during the day. Just 2 to 3 hours of exposure to bright light can reduce your ability to adjust to darkness by 10 minutes, and 10 consecutive days of unfiltered sunlight exposure can cause a 50% loss in night vision. However, don’t wear glasses that are too dark, as depriving your eyes of sufficient light will also weaken them; for best results, wear glasses that transmit 15% of visible light. Be sure that they have a neutral, gray tint; to adapt both your cones and your rods to darkened conditions, you must reduce light in the entire visible spectrum, not just portions of it.
- Stay in perfect darkness for 20 to 30 minutes. Before going into a dark area, wear a sleep mask or (at least close and cover your eyes) to give your eyes a chance to adjust. 20 to 30 minutes is usually enough to adjust.
- Wear red-tinted glasses or goggles for 20 to 30 minutes. Red-tinted lenses block everything in the visible spectrum except red, and since the rods in your eyes aren’t sensitive to red, the glasses will allow your rods to adjust to “darkness” of a sort before you head out. This is what aviators do when they don’t have time to sit in perfect darkness before night-flying.
- Close your eyes tightly and apply slight pressure with your palms to both eyes.
After about 5 or 10 seconds, instead of seeing black, your vision will
turn white behind your eyes for a few seconds. This is like a resetting
of your eyes. When the white goes away and the black comes back, open
your eyes, and your vision will be significantly better in the dark,
until you see light that is.
- Special Forces use the technique of squeezing their eyes shut tightly for ten seconds - once they are in the dark. While the technique can seem effective, scientific studies have not proved it works. This may be a case where the brain and belief override normal physical reactions.
- Practice using your night vision in safe areas. This can be as simple as shutting out the lights in a room and closing all portals. When moving around in the dark, it is safer to move slowly and slide your feet, using your toes to sense obstacles in front of you. You're most stable when you have both feet on the ground, and are less likely to trip and sprain, or even worse, break something. Also, if you put your arms out to feel where you're going, cross them at your wrists and form a circle with your elbows out to the sides, thus helping you to keep your balance while avoiding walking into a post, tree trunk or edge of an open door.
- Look for contrast. While the rods in your eyes are far more light-sensitive than the cones, they can only discriminate between black and white and provide low-quality images (which is why the different colors in a flower bed become almost indistinguishable at dusk). In tall grass, for example, look for horizontal lines that stand out against the vertical grass.
- Avoid looking directly at light sources while navigating in the dark.
Light sources diminish night vision – plus it takes longer to adjust
back for the dark than it does for your eyes to adjust for the light you
just looked at. If you can’t avoid looking at a light source, cover or
close one eye until it passes. If, for example, you’re driving at night
and someone comes around the bend with their high-beams on, protecting
one eye will prevent you from getting “flash blindness” in both eyes,
allowing you to more easily adjust back to the darkness.
- Dim your dash lights to a low but safe level to help your vision while driving at night.
- If you do need to use a light, place a red lens over the light source.
This will allow the cones of your eyes to see whatever is being
illuminated without affecting the rods. Stargazing programs, for
example, often have an option to make their display screens red because
red does not affect your rod cells, allowing you to still see in the
dark well.Read the original article on wikihow.com.The most important thing you can do to keep your eyes healthy is to get an annual eye examination. How to Look Cool in Glasses
Glasses are awesome fashion accessories, but sometimes people will make fun of you for wearing them. Here's how to stay cool.
- Choose Eye Glasses. If your mom/dad has recommended something for you,
don't be so fast to blow it off. Just because your parents like it,
doesn't make it an instant "no". After all, they're the ones who can see
them.
- Pick glasses that reflect your personality.
- Don't act any different because you have glasses. You're you, that's that.
- Learn to like your glasses. A typical stereotype is "Girl/Boy with glasses is a "geek". Ignore it. Glasses are so you can see clearly. They don't label you. Keep that in mind.
- Keep them in the best possible condition. Clean your glasses. Be careful not to drop them, don't get the frame or lenses scratched, and make sure you keep them clean. Wash them daily, water will work just fine if you're not so sure about cleaners.
- Get a nice case that works with your glasses.Pick one that YOU like. Are you looking for a great deal on eyeglasses in Orlando? You’ve come to the right place. Instead of waiting until the last minute, when you’re desperately looking for a great deal, we’re here to tell you how to find a great deal on your new pair of spectacles in Orlando.Make your decision and purchase your new eyeglasses at your favorite Orlando eyeglass vendor. How to Pick the Right Glasses to Suit Your Face
Are your glasses too big or too small or dark or pale for your face. This article will show how to pick the right glasses for your face.
- Consider the size of your head.
- If you have a small head then you want to choose glasses that are smaller instead of the bigger glasses.
- And if you have a bigger head then buy bigger glasses (But not too big). Because you don't want them flopping all over your face.
- Look at your complexion.
- Now if you have a very pale face go for a more neutral colour Like pink or a light purple.
- If you have a skin tone that's in the middle, go for a colour like green blue or brown,
- And now if you have a darker face, go for a more darker colour like black or, Dark purple and make sure (if you want) to include a pattern.

How to Buy Eyeglasses
- Figure out what kind of look you want; if you want something
that you can put on and wear with anything, if you want something funky
to only wear occasionally, if you want something extremely discreet, etc.
- Look at different stores if possible. Figure out which ones comply with your budget and if they take insurance, if you have it. Note that glasses can be quite expensive when paid for out-of-pocket. It might be worth comparison shopping if you're looking at boutiques, as prices on lenses (not frames) often vary widely.
- Listen to whoever works there, the Optical Assistant.
They see all kinds of face shapes trying all kinds of frames, and they
know what works on whom. Only bring in your significant other if you
really don't care about how you look, because they're going to suggest
what they want to see you in. Also, don't bring friends, because you
will get nothing accomplished and the optical professional helping you
will want to murder you all. There are limits here, though; my manager
at the optical I used to work at was a giant hipster, and while he would
usually mold his selections to what the patient wanted, sometimes his
picks were... out there. Use common sense. To read more click here. For this very reason, 20/20 Eyeglass Superstore is offering a special online eyeglass discount coupon each month. How to See Better when You're 60 and Beyond
Does the phrase "eyesight improvement with age" seem like a
contradiction in terms? Is it possible to reverse age-related vision
decrease, or is worsening eyesight just one of those things we've got to
accept as we get older? Eyesight improvement with age is indeed possible - and it's easier than ever to learn about ways to improve your vision, no matter who you are.
- Understand what causes eyesight to deteriorate with age.
There are many reasons eyesight can diminish with age. Sometimes,
vision loss is associated with diseases like diabetes. Diabetes is a
preventable disease - in fact, all you've got to do to stop most
diabetes from occurring is to eat right and get plenty of exercise! A
sedentary lifestyle hurts in many ways - this is just one of those.
- Do research about whether or not glasses and contacts weaken your eyes. There is some controversy surrounding whether glasses or contact lenses weaken your eyes over time. Current medical knowledge suggests that they do not weaken your eyes, nor do they improve the eyes themselves. Contacts and eyeglasses are simply tools that can help you see better - nothing more, nothing less. However, they do tend to stagnate your vision which usually leads to worsening your current eyesight condition
- Try natural vision improvement techniques such as eye exercises. You may discover that you need less and less vision correction as time passes.
- YouTube is a good source of videos for beginners.
- Avoid, manage, or minimize stress. Stress can damage your eyes - so it's no wonder that so many people find that they need to constantly increase the power of their prescriptions as the pressures of life add up. Could stress reduction help to improve your eyesight, along with the quality of your life, overall? This is certainly something to consider.
- Eat healthy. As our lives get busier, we have a tendency to stop eating healthy foods at home, in favor of mass-produced convenience foods. As a rule, the more highly processed the foods we eat are, the less nutritious they are for us. Eating whole foods from natural sources is a great way to improve your health - and studies show that some foods like salmon, spinach, and sweet potatoes are beneficial to our eyesight. You cannot harm yourself by eating a more healthful diet - so start eating well right away.
By getting your eyes checked regularly, you’ll be able to keep them healthy your whole life. Neglect can be costly!

How to Alleviate Eye Fatigue Quickly
- Make an effort to Blink 300 times a day: People who are
between the age of 20 to 40 blink about 20 times per minute. However,
when people are staring at the computer screen, the blinking number will
be reduced to 4 to 5 times per minute. Because of the shortage of tear
secretion, the eyes will have symptom of dryness and austerity.
Therefore, the blink of eyes is very important for eyes protection.
Generally speaking, blinking 300 times a day is not only contributing to
tear secretion and alleviate the symptoms of dryness and austerity, but
also clean eyes. All of these are good for easing eye fatigue. In
addition, the hot water, hot towels or steam bath, such as smoked eyes,
can promote the eye fatigue much more than promoting the blood
circulation of the eye.
- Eyeball compression method: Close eyes and push the eye with the index finger, middle finger, ring finger gently in rotation. Do not push for too long time with hard rubbing pressure. It is better about 20 seconds to stop.
- Press the forehead: knead with the hands of the central three fingers from the forehead to the temple in rotation, and then forcefully push temple with the forefinger. The bottom of eyes will be feeling uncomfortable. Repeat doing that 3 to 5 times.
- Glabella compression method: Push gently with the thumb abdominal below the eyebrows and the root in rotation. Repeat doing that 3 times, first the right eye and then the left one. During that, please don’t shake your head.
- Eat more nutritious food for eyes:
- Modern medical research shows that the vitamin and the occurrence of diseases of the eye have a very close relationship. Excessive use of eyes needs more vitamins and minerals. Reasonable to add the eyes of the nutrients required for eye protection is very important. Therefore, experts recommend ophthalmology, people who have eye fatigue should pay attention to the balance of diet and nutrition. They should eat more than usual of coarse grains, cereals, green vegetables, potato, beans, fruit contains vitamins, protein and cellulose food. Dry eyes are lack of mucus, which can easily moisten the eyes of the phenomenon of fatigue. Vitamin A or B in gourd carrot can supply of mucus has great relevance. In addition to vitamin B6, vitamin C and zinc can also be added to help solve the problem of dry eyes.
