Different Parts Of Eyeglasses

Different Parts To EyeglassesThe frames of the eyeglasses contain parts that can be replaced and repaired. Additionally, you should carefully consider the lenses, as well as the frames, when you purchase your eyeglasses. These two separate components allow you to choose from several combinations to make your eyeglasses uniquely yours.

When you pick out your eyeglasses, you may be most concerned with choosing the frames for the eyeglasses. The frames affect the way you look. Frames allow you to express your style. You may choose to go with designer frames, such as (Calvin Klein eyeglass frames), or a more traditional frame. Often, you will have a frame allowance with your eye insurance that will cover the cost of the frames up to a certain amount, and then you can make up the difference.

When you are choosing a good eye glass frame for yourself, you should consider both the color and style of the frame. Take a trusted friend with you. She can be a sounding board to help you find a frame that fits your personality. As you look at your frames, consider how you will be using them. You may consider getting the twistable frames for small children, or if you have small children at home. This will keep your frames from becoming crooked or breaking.

When you purchase your frames, you should consider how well and easily they can be repaired. You can replace the nose pads on your frames easily. The parts are not expensive, and most eyeglass shops will make the repairs for you for free. Additionally, you can have the temple pieces replaced if they break. The temple pieces are the pieces that go along your temples and over your ears. They may also have earpieces that slip on over the part that touches your ears. If these break, then you can order replacement parts and have them fixed. The bridge of your eyeglasses is the piece that goes across your nose. Usually, if this piece breaks you will need to replace the entire frame.

When you order your lenses, you have many different options available to you. The lenses that you choose will affect how your frames look. They can also affect the heaviness of your glasses.  You can also have the edges shined to a gloss, or the edges beveled down. Additionally, you can have the glasses treated with material to prevent glare or scratches. This can help prolong the life of your lenses.

Taking care of your glasses properly is important to maintain all the parts of the glasses. You should use a case to store your glasses in. Additionally, you can purchase a special lens cleaning cloth and spray that will prevent your lenses from scratching. Finally, it is always nice to have an eyeglasses repair kit on hand to help you in an emergency. These things will help to take care of all the parts of your eyeglasses.

Eyeglass Frame Material Causes Allergic Reaction

http://glassescrafter.com/information/Frame-Materials-and-Allergies.htmlIt is uncommon to have an allergic reaction to eyeglasses, and when it happens it can be difficult to find help and support from your eye doctor. However, if you know you have allergies to specific types of materials, then you should find out what your glasses are made out of before you order them. This can be difficult because many manufacturers do not list all of the materials in the glasses.

If you think you are having an allergic reaction to your glasses, you need to track your symptoms and isolate it to your glasses. One of the major signs is that the skin is irritated only where your eyeglasses are, or where they touch your skin. You may develop a masklike rash around your eyes, or you may just have spots where your glasses actually touch the skin. The symptoms are different for everyone.

Some people have an allergic reaction to the eyeglass frames.
1). Nickel allergy: This causes a rash in the area that comes in contact with the glasses. If you have an allergy to nickel you should try to purchase plastic frames or frames made of titanium.
http://glassescrafter.com/information/Frame-Materials-and-Allergies.htmlTitanium glasses are the best choice for people with allergies, but if it does not work for you then try the plastic glasses.

Stainless steel glasses also work for people with a nickel allergy. Some people do have a difficult time with plastic glasses as well. The cheap eyeglasses are often made from nickel, especially the ones that you purchase at a drugstore. You may consider going in for allergy testing if you are having a difficult time finding a frame that works for you.

2). Nose pads: These are usually made out of silicone. The main indicator of a specific nose pad allergy would be that the rash is focused around your nose where the pads touch your face. These can be replaced with vinyl nose pads, and any eyeglasses shop can special order the correct pads for your glasses. Another option is to look for frames that do not use nose pads. However, if you have an allergy to the metal, this might not be the best option for you to consider.

3). Chemical coatings: Some people may have reactions to the chemical coatings that are on the lenses of the glasses. A sign of this would be constant eye irritation, and no reaction on your ears or along your temples. If this is the case, you may consider ordering glasses without the additional coatings added to them. This would mean avoiding the scratch resistant and glare blocker coatings. You may also try to find someone that will make glasses for you from actual glass.

New Year Resolution for Your Eyes

NewYearsRes2014Each year as the New Year approaches, people around the world resolve to make changes that will result in longer, happier and healthier lives. Often people are determined to lose weight while others are committed to kicking unhealthy habits such as smoking.

Around this time of year, many of us will make a New Year’s resolution to be healthier overall. But what about taking care of one of our most precious senses, our sense of sight? The first step to preserving our sense of sight is to ensure we have healthy eyes. Here are some tips to make sure you keep your eyes healthy well into the New Year:

1). Get Regular Eye Exams: Seeing your eye doctor for a regular eye exam is important. Adults, especially those over 40, should have annual eye exams, particularly to prevent age-related ocular conditions including macular degeneration (the part of the retina that processes light deteriorates), cataracts (the lens of your eye becomes cloudy)and glaucoma (pressure in the eye damages the optic nerve). Patients over 40 can also learn about presbyopia and their vision correction options such as multifocal contact lenses or bifocals. Children should have their first eye exam between the ages of 6 and 12 months.

2). Share Medical History With Your Eye Doctor: make sure to tell your eye doctor about your medical history.
3). Replace Your Contact Lens Case Often: Eye doctors recommend replacing your contact lens case every three or four months. This helps prevent possible complications from bacterial infections
